Much needed refreshing trip to Kalakkad with my family and kids.

Kalakkad is a village located in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is famous for its rich biodiversity and scenic landscapes, primarily due to its proximity to the Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR), one of the state's most significant protected areas.

KMTR was established in 1988, it is Tamil Nadu’s first and largest tiger reserve, spanning approximately 1,601 square kilometers. Despite its designation, the reserve is more celebrated for its dense evergreen forests and remarkable biodiversity, particularly its variety of endemic plant species, than for its tiger population.

Key Features:

Diverse Ecosystems: The reserve encompasses various vegetation types, including dry thorn forests, dry deciduous forests, moist deciduous forests, and patches of West Coast wet evergreen forests on the higher reaches.

Flora and Fauna: KMTR is home to numerous endangered species, such as the lion-tailed macaque, and boasts a rich diversity of flora and fauna.

Eco-Tourism Activities: Visitors can engage in guided treks, nature trails, and jeep safaris. A notable addition is the jeep safari to Banatheertham waterfalls, introduced in September 2023, offering tourists a scenic forest route experience.

Visitor Information:

Timings: The reserve is open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Entry Fees: Adults: ₹20; Children: ₹15.

Climate: Kalakkad enjoys a cool and breezy climate, attributed to its location in the Western Ghats, making it an attractive destination for nature enthusiasts.

If you're planning a visit to Kalakkad, consider going on weekdays than weekends to avoid overcrowding and enjoy in water for a longer time. When we visited it was summer holiday and sunday. So we ended up returning sooner. There is ample space for having food. Take food with you because you cannot find any hotels in that reserve area. Do not visit when there is extreme rainfall in the western ghats because the waterfalls might be closed due to flooding.

Awesome Recipe.

Hi Friends This blog post is about my Sweet Little Frnd Heleena .... :):):) Recently she made a very big comedy.... I would like to share about that wonderful incident.... One day she brought Kashmiri Chicken to office which was made by her lovable dad.... At that time I was having some restrictions towards eating Chicken. So I couldn’t have a try on it.... I was very eager to taste Kashmiri Chicken coz the dish was new to me.... And she promised me that she will bring that chicken soon after my restrictions towards chicken was over.... But the poor kid forgot to bring it.... And in the meantime several things happened and her dad fell sick. So she couldn’t keep her promise....
